State Tourism Development & Culture to 'babysit' Fort Cornwallis momentarily
Beginning 1 May 2010, Penang Fort Cornwallis will be 'babysat' by the State Tourism Development & Culture Office. From then on, the historical attraction spot will be operating daily, including Sundays, from till 9am till 7pm. Entrance fees into the Fort Cornwallis will be reduced to RM2 for adults and RM1 for children. A special entrance fee of RM1 is also available for students who are present on-site in their school uniforms or with their student ID. School students will also be allowed to enter for FREE upon the school's request with an official letter submitted to our office beforehand to waive the entrance fees. Events are encouraged to be organised at the Fort Cornwallis for a lower rental fee of RM2,500 for private sectors and RM1,500 for government departments.
Plans are currently ongoing to organise 'Esplanade-In-Action' in the premises of Fort Cornwallis every Saturday from 5pm - 7pm. On 1st May 2010, PESSBAND - the Penang State Symphonic Band, will kick of a two-hour performance entitled 'The Blast Concert In Fort Cornwallis' from 8.30pm - 10.30pm and on 2nd May 2010, a Chingay performance will be held from 5pm - 7pm - all happening at Fort Cornwallis!
